Deep Ocean (Moana Hohonu) 1000m

Manual winding

Although your watch has an automatic movement where a built in oscillating mass rotates to wind the watch with wrist movement, when not worn for some time, the watch may stop. We recommend that you wind the movement by hand to restore full power reserve.

To do this:

  • Unlock the crown from it's screw down position (the crown will spring out to the winding position 1)
  • Wind the crown approximately 30 times (a built in clutch prevents overwinding of the mainspring)
  • Screw down the crown by pressing in and turning clockwise.

Screw-down crown

Your watch is fitted with a screw-down crown. This provides maximum water resistance.

To unscrew the crown: (to set the date for example)

  • Turn the crown anti-clockwise (towards you) until the crown springs open

To screw down the crown:

  • press the crown in and at the same time, rotate clockwise (away from you) until the crown is screwed in and stops (DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN)

Setting the date

Setting the date can be achived in 2 ways.

1. Quick-set

The movement in your watch allows for quick setting of the date (NOTE: due to the date gear being engaged between 10 and 2, it is best advised to only quick set the date at 6.30 - this will prevent potential damage to the date gear train).

  • Follow the steps to unlock the crown (the crown will pop out to position 1 - winding position)
  • Gently pull the crown out to position 2
  • Rotate the crown clockwise (away from you). The date will advance in the date window
  • Once you have set the watch to the correct date, follow the instrcutions to scre down the crown (step 3)

Note: becuase the watch does not know am from pm, it is best practice to advance to the date before the current date and manually change the time until the date advances

2. Manual set

  • Follow the steps to unlock the crown (the crown will pop out to position 1 - winding position)
  • Gently pull the crown out to position 3 (time adjust)
  • Rotate the crown clockwise (away from you). The time will advance and on midnight, the date will advance once. Moving through another 24 hours will advance the date another day.
  • Once you have set the watch to the correct date, follow the instrcutions to scre down the crown (step 3)

Helium Escape Valve

Your watch is fitted with a Helium Escape Valve (HEV).

Deep Saturation diving means spending significant time decompressing and also breathing a Helium rich mixture. Helium can work its way inside the watch case and when decompression occurs, this can cause the watch to "fail" - the Helium expands and pushes the crystal out of the face of the watch.

The HEV is a one-way automatic valve that allows the traped helium to escape from incide the case in a controlled manner. Once the gas has been purged, the valve reseals automatically.

The valve seal should be checked at each major service - approximately every 5 years.
